Cancellation of July 4, 2020 ASAA-NA Annual Event of Dallas

Dear Alumni Members, Supporters and Friends:

The ASAA-NA Board of Directors extends its well wishes to each member, supporter, and friend during this difficult and still uncertain time of COVID-19.

For the most part, we are all in the same boat: we are hunkered down in our homes as we wait for what comes next.

While we can’t be sure of what comes next, we are certain that it will take some time for all to return to normal.

Therefore, out of an abundance of caution our first concern must be to ensure that we don’t inadvertently place anyone in a situation or gathering that could lead to negative health consequences. Secondly, we must be mindful of the grave economic cost that many of us have suffered because of the economic shutdown. The shutdown has also led to major disruption in the availability of airlines flights and we can’t be sure if we could even easily fly to our destination to meet.

All things considered; it has been deemed to be in the best interest of all to postpone our July 4, 2020 event. This was a difficult decision for the board. We held a meeting on April 5, 2020 to discuss the matter and solemnly had to agree, unanimously, to postpone the July 4, 2020 Annual Event of Agazi School Alumni Association-North America for the period of one year until July 2021.

Given the cancellation of the annual event, the board also assessed the viability of holding a board election in the absence of the annual event. After reviewing the pros and cons of holding an election without having an annual event, the board unanimously agreed to postpone the election of a new board to 2021 when it can be held during the event.

We look forward to better and more certain times ahead. In the meantime, please stay healthy and safe and lets’ share the positive stories in our lives in the year ahead.

Hagos Gebre
Chairman, ASAA-NA Board of Directors
